1955
Representatives from 29 Asian and African nations met at the Bandung Conference to address colonialism, racism, and Cold War tensions.
1956
Tito, Nehru and Nasser met on the Brijuni Islands and signed the Brijuni Declaration.
1961
The Non-Aligned Movement was founded at the first Summit Conference in Belgrade, attended by 25 countries.
1980
IINS is founded on September 19 as an international think tank for the Non-Aligned world.
About us

IINS studies, discusses and disseminates information on developments in Non-Aligned countries and the wider developing world.

With General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 1998, IINS engages in key global priorities such as health, peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, climate action, women and child development, education, and South–South cooperation.

Through research, publications, seminars and News from Non-Aligned World, IINS creates public awareness of UN priorities and supports implementation of UN resolutions, human rights conventions and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Seminars, conferences and round tables with academicians, policy makers, civil society representatives and students.

Outreach & Advocacy
Participation in ECOSOC and UN Human Rights Council meetings, and campaigns on women’s rights, girl child education, health and the environment.
